SEX EDUCATION

Sex Education is a compulsory part of the Relationships, Relationships and Sex, and Health Education statutory curriculum. Alongside the biology curriculum, sex education is also covered in ASPIRE, almost all of which is taught by external speakers and begins in Year 9. Tutors may be required to facilitate follow up discussions, and guidance will always be given, in addition to the resources you find here.

Designed for parents, this is a good resource on how to talk to children about sex and relationships.

PORNOGRAPHY

The teaching of pornography comes in understanding how it has infiltrated main stream media and desensitised us to what is normal, blurring lines of consent and how it has an impact on expectations and behaviours. The teaching of this begins in Year 10 and continues into Sixth Form and mostly delivered by outside speakers. The following articles provide more information on how to address pornography through RSE as well as a research briefing that looks at the impact of pornography on young people.
